Description:

“Shiva does not spell religion. Shiva spells responsibility our ability to take our very life process in our hands.” Sadhguru ‘Shiva’ is ‘that which is not’, a primordial emptiness; Shiva is also the first ever yogi, Adiyogi, the one who first perceived this emptiness. Adiyogi is symbol and myth, historic figure and living presence, creator and destroyer, outlaw and ascetic, cosmic dancer and passionate lover, all at once. A book like no other, this extraordinary document is a tribute to Shiva, the Adiyogi, by a living yogi; a chronicle of the progenitor of mysticism by a contemporary mystic. Here science and philosophy merge seamlessly, so do silence and sound, question and answer to capture the unspeakable enigma of Adiyogi in a spellbinding wave of words and ideas that will leave one entranced, transformed.

About The Author

Sadhguru is a realized yogi, mystic and visionary who has dedicated himself to the elevation of the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of all people. He is an author and opinion maker who is regularly invited to speak at leading international forums. He has spoken at many prestigious global conferences such as World Peace Summit at the United Nations and the World Economic Forum.

Sadhguru is often described as a contemporary spiritual leader, since he belongs to no particular tradition and incorporates aspects of yogic sciences that are most relevant for modern day life into his teachings and practices. His scientific methods for self transformation have universal appeal. Sadhguru’s insights into the mechanisms of life are an outcome of his profound experience of the Self, and serve as a guide to exploring the deeper dimensions of life. His life and work serve as reminders that the inner science of yoga is not esoteric philosophy from an outdated past, but is absolutely relevant and applicable to our lives today.

Sadhguru established the Isha Foundation, a volunteer run international nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating human potential. The Foundation is headquartered at Isha Yoga Center in southern India and at Isha Institute of Inner sciences in the United States. Under the guidance of Sadhguru and driven by a sense of oneness, love, and a deep longing to reach out and share, the Isha Foundation has also implemented several large scale human service projects for rural upliftment, education reform, environmental stewardship, as well as holistic and healthy living.
Arundhathi Subramaniam is an award-winning poet and writer. Her recent books include When God is a Traveller, a poetry collection and Eating God, an anthology of sacred verse. She is also the author of the bestselling biography, Sadhguru: More Than a Life.
