Are You My Mother? is a children’s book by P. D. Eastman and is a part of the Beginner Books series. This the story of a young bird that goes in search of its mother after hatching from its egg. It’s a beautiful story of how a baby bird hatches from its egg when the mother bird is away from the nest. And hence begins the adventure of the baby bird as it goes around asking everyone it meets on the way, if they are the bird’s mother. Are You My Mother? is a very well illustrated picture book and is loved by children. The story of the baby bird searching for its mother is a beautifully crafted story. The baby bird on hatching, seeing that its mother was no where in sight, decides to go around looking for her. As the little bird searches for its mother, it comes across a cow, a dog, a hen, and a kitten, to whom the little bird asks if they are its mother, but sadly all of them reply no, which makes the little bird even sadder, but still the baby bird does not give up and searches for its mother. The baby bird comes face to face with so many other new things like an old car, a boat, an airplane, and even an earth mover. All the while, the little bird searches for its mother while learning about so many new things. The book was published in 2012 by UK Children’s as Rebranded edition and is available as a paperback. Key Features: The book was named as one of the books of the Teachers’ Top 100 Books for Children in 2007. It’s also one of the Top 100 Picture Books Of All Times.

About The Author

Philip Dey “Phil” Eastman was an American screenwriter, children’s author, and illustrator. As an author, he is known primarily as P. D. Eastman. A protégé of Theodor Geisel (Dr. Seuss), Eastman wrote many books for children, in his own distinct style under the Dr. Seuss brand of Random House, many of which were in the Beginner Books series.
From 1936 to 1941, Eastman worked at the story department of Walt Disney Productions. From 1941 to 1943 he worked at the story department of Warner Bros. Cartoons. From 1945 to 1952 he worked in the story department of United Productions of America. He contributed to the “Private Snafu” World War II training films, wrote for the animation Mr. Magoo, and the Gerald McBoing-Boing series for UPA.
