Fabulous romance set in an exotic locale. Since this is the first Nicola Marsh book I have read, I admire the fact that she managed to create two very likeable characters which in a lesser author’s hands, would end up being kinda pitiful or boring. Tamara does not come across as a victim but rather as a strong independent woman who just needed a reminder on how to find her voice and rediscover her passion in life. Yes, there are a few albeit brief moments where she overreacts but for the most part, she learns from her mistakes and quickly realizes what is in front of her. For me, it was Ethan that sealed the deal for me. Ethan could have easily been portrayed as a cold, calculating tycoon but instead, he comes across from page 1 as the kind and loving guy you want to spend the rest of your life with, no matter how big his wallet is. You can’t help but cheer for him as he strives to get the girl of his dreams. Ironically enough, I had just finished watching Andrew Zimmern’s “Bizarre Foods” episode set in Goa, India when I started reading this book. My mouth watered as I read about all the fabulous food that Tamara and Ethan were eating. I’m not afraid to admit but this book got an extra 1/2 star for combining tasty food and romance.
