About The Author

I’ve always loved reading – it started with The Famous Five and Nancy Drew. And then when I was older I discovered Jane Austen, the Bronte sisters and Georgette Heyer, thus sealing my fate as a romance junkie.

So, although I’ll read pretty much anything with words on a page, it’s romance I come back to every time, to pick me up, to envelop me in a different world, to make me laugh, to make me sigh.

I’ve worked many jobs from extra on the TV show, Hercules, to service station attendant (real women do pump gas) and sales rep while putting myself through university studying for a degree in Management (looking back I’ve never quite figured out why I chose management, although I did have a hankering to wear a suit to work). I then worked in finance in London for a couple of years, and in marketing back home in New Zealand. The novelty of wearing a suit to work didn’t last all that long.

I finally had a Eureka! moment when I was home on maternity leave and tried my hand at writing a novel. Imagine the joy of discovering that writing was almost as much fun as reading. After years of not knowing what I wanted to do ‘when I grew up’ I suddenly knew.

That knowledge was both a blessing and a curse, yes I finally had a dream but then the hard slog of making it a reality began.

I really enjoyed this story. I thought it would be just another night of pleasure, that ends in pregnancy books. It was, but it was so much more. The author really did a great job with this story. Callie met Nick when she was attending her Ex’s wedding. She was there more than anything to prove she was well, and truly over her ex. She slipped out to catch her breath, and get some fresh air. Nick was out on the porch making a phone call. The attraction between the two was instant. That night they spent together. It was a magical night. The next morning Callie wanted to leave a note before walking out of the hotel. She came across his business card while she was looking for paper to write the note on…. She was shocked, and mortified to find out just who she had just spent the night with. Nick is one of her clients, and he is also a billionaire. She flees from the room in a hurry without a backwards glance. There were several reasons I thought this book stood apart from the other books with the same plot. Callie owned her own business. She didn’t need Nick. She was in good health. She didn’t need anyone to take care of her. She was very independent. Callie also had a backbone, and stood up for what she wanted. Nick was a very caring hero. I loved how he poured out his heart in the end. This book left me all warm inside. I’m a sucker for a good romance. Just because Callie didn’t need Nick, did not mean her heart didn’t want Nick, and didn’t hope and dream that Nick would fall in love with her. She wanted it all, Nick, and a family with him. She wanted his love, but would never settle for anything less. I loved how she didn’t just fall at his feet. This was a very sweet story that I really enjoyed.

I just loved Callie and Nick they were the perfect leads for the book. What’s a girl to do when her ex is getting married of course go to the weeding to see of the feelings are still there. They weren’t but an intriguing man, Nick, was there and sparks flew. One night and she left but he wanted more. When they meet up again he tries to make her a bad guy but it did not work. They find out they are pregnant but see different things for a solution. The ending was wonderful.

I think I need a lesson to not be selfcentered. I am feeling so self centered right now because I hate Jason and Mel even though they have done nothing wrong. I just don’t like other people stealing the limelight of what was supposed to be the heroines’ time. I love the progress and the end especially. I like how they met and the character of Callie, it’s powerful and full of promises. Like a woman who can stand on her own.

This is a well written and interesting book, I enjoyed it. The relationship between the hero and heroine is very sweet and there is plenty of chemistry. Their story is told well and is very engaging, as well as believable. The conflict and the story is a little ‘well-used’ but it is executed well and the story feels very modern. This is my first Sandra Hyatt book (I believe this was also her first book) and I really enjoyed it, I will look to read her other books in the future. Sadly she passed away last year, I’m sure she will be greatly missed. RIP.

Good read the author didn’t let it go down that tedious billionaire jerk route, we knew he had feelings for her from the jump… no revenge plots et al!! Being the brides brother was an interesting twist! Also the H was kind of an ass with the whole control thing but not in typical Harlequin Presents fashion, guess they’re milder in desire!!Quick and enjoyable read!!!
