About The Author

Australian, Nikki Logan, lives on the edge of a string of wetlands south of Perth, Western Australia with her partner and a menagerie of animals. She writes captivating, nature-based stories full of romance in descriptive natural environments for Harlequin Enterprises and Entangled Publishing. She believes the danger and richness of wild places perfectly mirror the passion and risk of falling in love.

Nikki wrote her first full-length book in 2007 (‘Wild Encounter’ a romantic suspense set in the wilds of Zambia amidst the wildlife smuggling industry) when she needed a project to fill six months of accrued annual leave. Well and truly bitten by the writing-bug, she wrote a number of category-length novels after her return to work and hasn’t stopped since. She’s written fifteen books for Harlequin and now Entangled as well.

Nikki’s determined to reveal through her writing what she finds so enriching, courageous and tenacious about wildlife. Writing nature-based romance is the perfect opportunity to blend what she loves reading with what she loves doing and maybe sneak beautiful creatures and their environments into fertile reader imaginations all over the world through beautiful love stories.

    “Amazing Reading”

This was a surprisingly powerful read. I connected with both protagonists and the anxious, forgiving dog. Lots of elements that tugged on my emotions here, from the damaged heroine unable to love herself to the wounded man unable to forgive himself. This isn’t a perfect read, but it is compelling and emotional.

Good book. I liked both Ellie and Jed. Ellie came to Larkville to connect with the family she just found out about. No one was at home just then, so she ended up renting a room from the sheriff. Ellie was very skittish and had terrible self esteem. As a dancer she had developed an eating disorder and she is still recovering from the toll it took on her body. I liked seeing her as she started to recover. She also got involved in some things in town and made some friends. Jed came to Larkville as sheriff, escaping his own memories of a slain partner and lover. I really liked seeing the two of them together. Jed could see how fragile Ellie was, and was very patient and gentle with her whenever they were together. He was attracted to her, but afraid of commitment, so refused to give in to his developing feelings. He kept thinking it could be just a fling since she was just visiting and he doesn’t date locals. When he found out she was actually family to a local he got angry and said some terrible things to her, and she did too. Just as she was getting ready to leave town her family came back and she went to see them. She and Jed also saw each other again and were able to work things out.

GREAT READ! Well written, complex characters, intense dialogue, and a soul-searing look at the emotional toll of surviving tragic, life-changing events. HOWEVER, this book is sometime tough to read. It unflinchingly depicts the heroine’s struggle to cope with parental disapproval, an eating disorder, and the loss of her life’s dream. It also depicts the heroine’s emotional struggle watching the man she loves unable to face the guilt that haunts his past.THIS STORY follows wealthy New York socialite and former professional ballerina, Eleanor “Ellie” Patterson, seeking her roots at her mother’s first husband’s home, the Calhoun ranch. As the story unfolds, former New York police officer, now small town Sheriff, Jed Jackson recues her from a herd of “cows.” When he realizes she has nowhere to stay, he offers her an adjoining studio apartment while she waits for the 2nd generation Calhoun children to return home. Spending time together, they share painful memories and Jed helps Ellie discover the freedom of leaving her past vulnerabilities behind. However, despite the sparks between them Jed is unable to shake the guilt of losing an officer under his command in New York, until another near loss helps him realize that more than anything, he wants a future with Ellie.OVERALL, a touching story about trying to overcome deep emotional scars, forgiving yourself, and seizing a second chance. You may also enjoy the complex characters and storytelling of N. Bruhns, A. Stuart, or E. Palfrey. For sweet, funny, heart touching romances with great descriptive imagery try Susan Fox and Cara Colter.

An exceptional tale about acceptance, coming home and the healing force of love, Slow Dance with the Sheriff is the second title in the unmissable Larkville Legacy continuity from Harlequin Romance! The eminent Patterson clan has ruled the upper echelons of Manhattan society for decades. The New York social scene was in awe of their unbelievable wealth, polished good looks and effortless elegance. Yet their sophisticated exterior hid a plethora of shameful secrets and despicable lies that the Patterson family had gone to create lengths to keep buried. But when reality reared its ugly head, Ellie Patterson was shocked to her very core when she discovered that her parents had been lying to her for her entire life. Nikki Logan packs plenty of emotional punch in this tender, heart-wrenching, poignant and wholly engrossing romantic story. Make sure you keep a box of tissues nearby, because Slow Dance with the Sherriff is a warm-hearted, engaging and truthful tale full of characters you cannot help but care about who will stay in your mind and in your heart long after the last page is turned.A first-class contemporary romance that you will find difficult to forget, Slow Dance with the Sheriff is another keeper by Nikki Logan!
