પાટણની પ્રભુતા (૧૯૧૬) : કનૈયાલાલ મુનશીની, ગુજરાતના સોલંકીયુગના ઇતિહાસ પર આધારિત કથાત્રયીમાંની પહેલી નવલકથા. કર્ણદેવ સોલંકીના મૃત્યુસમયે પાટણમાં જૈન શ્રાવકો અને મંડલેશ્વરો વચ્ચે ચાલતી સત્તાની સાઠમારી તથા મુંજાલથી પોતે વિશેષ પ્રભાવશાળી ને મુત્સદ્દી છે એવું દેખાડવાની મીનળદેવીની ઇચ્છા એ બે ઘટનાકેન્દ્રોમાંથી નવલકથાનું સમગ્ર કથાનક આકાર લે છે. મુંજાલનો પ્રભાવ ઘટાડવા મીનળદેવી આનંદસૂરિના અભિપ્રાયો પ્રમાણે ચાલવા જતાં મુશ્કેલીમાં મુકાય છે. આખરે થાકીહારીને તે ફરી મુંજાલની શક્તિ ને બુદ્ધિનો આશ્રય સ્વીકારીને, ઊભી થયેલી વિકટ પરિસ્થિતિમાંથી છુટકારો મેળવે છે. એટલે વાસ્તવમાં આ નવલકથા રાજ્કીય પૃષ્ઠભૂમાં આકાર લેતી, સ્ત્રીના વૈયક્તિક અહં અને પતનની કથા બની રહે છે. કૃતિમાં નિરૂપાયેલા સંઘર્ષોમાં ઐતિહાસિકતા કરતાં કલ્પનાનું વિશેષ પ્રમાણ, પાત્રો વચ્ચેના પ્રણયના તથા અન્ય સંબંધોમાં કાલ્પનિકતા, રહસ્યમય અને રોમાંચક ઘટનાઓનું આલેખન ઇત્યાદિ તત્વો આ કૃતિને ‘ઐતિહાસિક રોમાન્સ’ની કોટિમાં મૂકે છે.
About The Author
Kanaiyalal Maneklal Munshi (30 December 1887 – 8 February 1971), popularly known as K. M. Munshi, was an Indian independence movement activist, politician, writer and educationist from Gujarat state. A lawyer by profession, he later turned to literature and politics. He was a well-known name in Gujarati literature. He founded Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, an educational trust, in 1938. Munshi was also a litterateur with a wide range of interests. He is well known for his historical novels in Gujarati, especially his trilogy Patan-ni-Prabhuta (The Greatness of Patan), Gujarat-no-Nath (The Ruler of Gujarat) and Rajadhiraj (The Emperor). His other works include Jay Somnath (on Somnath temple), Krishnavatara (on Lord Krishna), Bhagavan Parasurama (on Parshurama), and Tapasvini (The Lure of Power) a novel with a fictional parallel drawn from the Freedom Movement of India under Mahatma Gandhi. Munshi also wrote several notable works in English.

Amazing Read. In the first Novel of the trilogy, Ptan Ni Prabhuta, Munshi has very artistically presented the relationship of Minaldevi the Queen of Patan and Munjul Mehta, the Chife Minister of Patan. Through Munshi has portrayed Minaldevi as a very powerful and dignified queen, yet her expression of powerful gush of emotions for Munjal Mehta is extremely fascinating. The best scene of the novel occurs in the chapter”Hradaynath”(The Ruler of Heart) when best Minaldevi pathetically implores Munjal to forgive her to injustice done to him by her.
