Description:

Ardhendu Bose, a fatherless middle-class Bengali boy brought up by a domineering and vicariously ambitious mother, tries to escape from the failures of life, in the arms of his Punjabi girlfriend, a BPO job that is sheer drudgery, the mindless somersaults of Crystal, his six-year-old Labrador, and in the company of the never-say-die and Texan drawl trawling Manoj.
But everything is set to change overnight. A loser from a B-grade Indian business school, Ardhendu is summoned for an interview by RED, the fourth largest Life Sciences company in the world. His life takes a turn for the better, or so he believes, when he is chosen over an IIM hopeful, to be Executive Assistant to President, India Operations, RED. Finally, he gets a life, works with people with exotic names he pronounces effortlessly as though he were one of them, drinks their fine spirits, attends their parties, and climbs the ladder rapidly. Till that epiphanic moment in a penthouse balcony when it becomes clear that there is a price to pay to be a part of that world of predators.
A frightful and thought-provoking tale of hunts blurring lines between humans and vampires, The Company RED is the first novel of the RED trilogy by Shantanu Dhar.

    “Amazing Reading”

The Company Red by Shantanu Dhar is a dark, sombre and sinister story that is good in fits and starts but fails to deliver as a whole. The writing is fairly solid and better than most contemporary urban Indian work. However, it is the story where the author lets himself down. The books starts off promisingly but then falls flat as it moves into the supernatural territory. The story is loaded with cliches and predictable plot twists. Initially, it seems that the story would reflect the emotional conflicts and dilemmas faced by employees working for reputed yet corrupt corporates, but just when it is picking steam there is a revelation which completely takes you off guard

I feel that this is a book which is very contemporary and permits me relate to my daily routine and at the same time shocks me by speaking about the possible natural predators to human race.It is very simple to read with neat expressions well explained and thought provoking. A very exciting thriller and I would like to see this in big screen with right casting so that we get a harry potter of India

The second book in the Code Red series by Om Books International in the first Vampire series brings our Vampire-Human mercenary close to the fight he has been fighting for so long. Ardhendu Bose, our vampire turned killer machine faces the rest of the clan after killing of their leader, Colton White.Ardhendu Bose is your run of the mill corporate honcho who starts working in RED Inc. Finally realising that it is a front for vampires to harvest humans for their blood, he tries to run but eventually gets caught and turned into a vampire. His father, Dr Amitava Bose a pioneer in vampire studies trains him to control his thirst for blood and medicates him turning into a rampaging, killing machine. This book focuses on a congregation of Vampires from all over in the Amazon rainforest as Ardhendhu battles time, betrayal and power games. The novel takes a closer look at the true nature of the human species as Ardhendu fights to understand which side to remain on. On one side, are the ever greedy weak humans destroying Mother Nature to fulfil its hunger of commercialisation or the predatory Vampires who sought make us the prey. The book revolves about his inner demons as he races to fulfil what he set out to do.With language which becomes a bit too flowery at times, Shantanu Dhar’s second book in the RED trilogy is an one time read on a journey.

Shantanu has tried to highlight a clear Scientific fact of genetic mutation, which needs to be understood first, based on which he has tried to build his fiction… Similar evidences are there where in areas closer to Hiroshima & Nagasaki, due to Nuclear radiations human DNAs have mutated genetically, results are visible. It’s a brilliant idea based on which Shanatnu has formed the story and given it an excellent narration with rich lexis, creating a ‘real life’ like situation. The story revolves around the bare facts that are principally followed by the US MNCs, who ‘use’ Indians in various ways just to meet their own goals keeping all emotions at bay.I would like to see how well the movie is made and succeeds in sharing the same message in equally ‘intellectual’ manner, I am sure it is not going to be for every class, that would definitely not be understood by any ‘Tom’, ‘Dick’ or ‘Harry’ as I presume. It possesses mixture of high end Scientific knowledge, Emotions, Nations Burning Issues as well as some bare facts of Corporate World which we can’t deny at all, that’s why it is so gripping & it appears so very REAL…Keep up the good work Shantanu, we would like to read more such books from you, which would surely not be just for everyone understand.Look forward to the next edition in this trilogy.
