Description:

The only magical thing missing from her life… happened to her sister! His idea of romance is that it is unnecessary. Tia was in love with her career and her lifestyle in America. And she was madly in love with Hari. But where was the romance she craved? Simi was the young girl left behind in a small town in India who hadn’t seen her sister for years. She was a dreamer. But what did she really want out of life? And then there was Hari. Straight-forward and uncomplicated, it felt like nothing he did was ever good enough for Tia. But didn’t every man want an ambitious and successful wife no matter how demanding they were? Theirs was a love story that was never going to be conventional. But what happened to Hari and Tia was something that nobody would have predicted. Mix two sisters with bad history between them and one clueless man, to form one whacky triangle, and you get a cautionary lesson in how you should be careful of what you wish for in the name of love? Set in Los Angeles and Nagpur, India, ‘When Hari Met His Saali’ is a funny, fresh, and outrageous look at young people and their dreams, longings, aches and heartbreaks. It is a fascinating take on the grand idea of love and the reality of romance. In a breezy, humorous narrative anchored around a magical twist, the story of Tia, Simi and Hari unfolds from romantic comedy into a climax full of suspense.

    “Amazing Reading”

As promised in the promos, this book is funny – some of the humor men will appreciate more than women – you will understand what I mean when you read the book, but funny is funny, so …. What really impressed me is that the author has done a great job with the primary characters. Each of the three have flaws, shown unashamedly, so that the reader immediately identifies – they feel absolutely real. Even the secondary characters, the grandmothers in particular, are precious. The story unfolds neatly and the twists are quite unexpected and unique. I was quite prepared to disapprove of a man falling in love with his saali, but changed my mind completely when I read it – very craftily handled by the author.Must read!

This story is not just about two sisters with a bad history and the same man in their lives, but also in some ways a realization about how we agree to live in denial at times, subconsciously hoping for the impossible to become true.I also felt that the writer had some inclination towards Simi’s character and risked showing Tia in a ‘slightly unlikable’ light.I liked the ending, which btw, was smartly mystified till the very last page. I would certainly love to watch this as a movie cause it has all the entertainment, fun and drama that you need. One element that got me curious though was Tia exploring the possibility of hitching with her boss, who as per my interpretation, was really someone that Tia would find perfect. But, then wouldn’t it mean a lot of drama! Him already happily married to someone else and Tia not finding any ‘project’ in her hands (remember what she did to Hari?)
Mr.Writer: Any hopes of finding this out in the sequel?

Born in India, Tia Galhotra is living the dream life in U.S. She has everything a girl can wish for; a nice job, handsome pay package and a man to love except the man has hardly any romantic bone. After dating for half a decade, Tia and Hari are all set to be engaged and Tia wants her family to fly from Nagpur to U.S for the engagement. Her mother is not so keen on the idea but her younger sister Simi is beyond excited and when she finally landed on the foreign land, things changes in the most unexpected manner. Under the most unusual circumstances, Hari has found himself falling rapidly for Simi. It’s not every day I read a novel written from male perspective. It was like reading Nic Tatano. Refreshing twists and crisp writing makes it a tempting read. Not a kind of novel many of us read very often but it’s a brave attempt and clever too. Definitely deserves the place on your bookshelves.

A funny book … Some humour the men will enjoy more than women … And above all it sends a message that if there is something in this universe that can keep growing without any limit, it is love. The person you choose may not be be perfect today, but love allows for growth ..not just theirs but yours as well.
