    “Amazing Reading”

I love Kat Martin and am such a huge fan of the Brodie brothers and their cousins that I am normally snared by their antics and the action that these books hold not to mention the romance. This book has all of them and is everything I could ask for in a book, however, I just didn’t connect with it like I have in the past. I kept waiting for the gang to show up and part of them did but not in their normal flare. The action is great. The building to the relationship between Ethan and Val was great. It just missed the mark for me a little bit and I hate to write that because I am such a huge fan. That being said I will say this….read the book please and decide for yourself. I plan to reread it later on when life isn’t quite so crazy around me. Don’t let this review discourage you from the book. Thanks for reading my review. I received and ARC for an honest review.

Into The Fury is the first book in Kat Martin’s new ‘BOSS’ Romantic Suspense series. I had not read a Kat Martin book in a few years, and decided to try this, since it was the beginning of the RS series. The setup for the PI agency was intriguing, and the members of the protection firm sounded fun, if a little routine. Here we have Ethan Brodie, who has been assigned to watch over a group of lingerie models in the middle of a national tour. They are being threatened by menacing notes from an unknown source. Sounds fun, and what could go wrong? Turns out, a lot; both in Ethan’s burgeoning (and forbidden) relationship with Valentine, one of the models, and in the story itself. I found myself skimming by the halfway mark, first a little, and then large chunks trying just to get to the end. Even at that, it took me four days to get through the book. There was absolutely nothing new here, and clichés abounded throughout the story. The climactic ending read more like a paramilitary OP gone wrong; and didn’t particularly fit in with the rest of the RS book.Fans of Kat Martin will undoubtedly enjoy it, but for everyone else, be aware that there is nothing new here. It’s a retread of every trope to be found in this kind of novel. It wasn’t the worst of this kind of book I’ve ever read, it’s actually well written. It was just a routine, pedestrian storyline.

Sworn off women due to a disastrous relationship with the mother of his young daughter, former Police officer, Ethan Brodie is cool, calculated and all business. But when the handsome P.I. takes on the job of protecting beautiful top models his reserve is shaken when he meets a woman like no other.Valentine Hart is a complete contradiction. Outwardly flawless, this model hired by the LaBelle Lingerie Company is far more than meets the eye. This intelligent and articulate young lady has an agenda that has nothing to do with the modeling industry but she needs the LaBelle to achieve her goals. From the minute she meets Ethan Brodie, sparks fly, but his job is to protect the models from a major threat. It appears that some religious fanatic has singled out the LaBelle ladies and the notes sent to some of the models has the BOSS Inc. agency on high alert.

Kat Martin has written several wonderful romantic-suspense series the last two are the Against Series and the Brodies of Alaska Series. Now we have the first book of her BOSS, Inc. Series. All these books are great, with hot alpha heroes and heroines that earn their respect while winning their hearts. Into the Fury does all that and more with a twisted tale that has you wondering what the real motive is until the very end. Ethan, who has sworn off women, can’t seem to keep his eyes and mind off the very lovely Valentine. That is a problem because she has the same reaction to Ethan. Val is a friend of Ethan’s cousin’s wife, Sam, and she asks Ethan to especially watch out for and protect her. Just one more reason for Ethan to stick like glue to Val. Before they even have the first show in Seattle, WA, one of the models is murdered. This is the tour from hell and way to many nasty things are happening. Ethan has come to realize that Val is a whole lot more that boobs and legs and is trying to solve this before she is the next model to die.

It’s all about the Brodies! Kat Martin continues on with the Brodie family with the start of the BOSS Inc. series. When I first read the synopsis for this book I kinda rolled my eyes, models and bodyguards sheesh. I do, however, love the forbidden romance that bodyguard romances have. What surprised me was the model aspect. Kat Martin created a lingerie company catering to women with bodies; all of its models have hourglass figures and are not what you would normally find on catwalk models. The heroine, Valentine Hart is not only beautiful enough to be a model but also studying to become a veterinarian and she is just the perfect sort of woman for Ethan Brodie. In Seattle the letters are delivered proclaiming the models are all sinners and need to repent. The top model is murdered and a similar note is left. In Dallas there is another murder with a similar note left at the scene, but is it the original or a copy cat? Ethan investigates bring Val with him trusting only himself with her safety. In Atlanta there is another attack on one of the models and a hostage situation. After that the tour is canceled and everyone head back home to Seattle but it’s nowhere near over for Ethan and Val. And the mystery behind the letters is finally uncovered and their lives are at risk.Gunfights, fistfights, sexy underwear, and an adorable little girl all help this new Brodie novel very worthwhile. And I can’t wait for Dirk’s book next.
