About The Author

Van Lustbader was born and raised in Greenwich Village, where he developed interests in art and writing. He lived downstairs from Lauren Bacall and built orange-crate racers in Washington Square Park with Keith and David Carradine. He is a graduate of Columbia College, with a degree in sociology, but his real education came much earlier at The City and Country School where, as he is fond of saying, “I learned all the important lessons that would stay with me for life.”

Before turning to writing full-time, he enjoyed successful careers in the New York City public school system, where he holds licenses in both elementary and early childhood education, and in the music business, where he worked for Elektra Records and CBS Records. He was the first person in the US to write about Elton John and to predict his success. As a consequence, he, John and John’s lyricist Bernie Taupin became friends. Writing for Cash Box Magazine, he also predicted the successes of such bands as Santana, Roxy Music, the Jimi Hendrix Experience, David Bowie and The Who.

With suspects dropping like flies, with the turn of every couple of pages I never thought I’d find out what the hell was gong on. It was the twisted maze of broken glass, and shredded metal that I’ve ever felt that I ran through in my bare feet, with Jason Bourne. I love this guy, but I feel like I would be terrified to be his friend , that my life as such would be totally expendable, not having the training and instincts that he possesses, from the organization that he hates with every fiber of his being, is probably the only reason he is still alive! God help any one who pals around with J.B., your days are numbered.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book, but there was one little thing that bothered me. It’s unclear why Karpov couldn’t have just waited to give Bourne the coin himself and explain its meaning the night before his wedding. Other than a means to make the plot work, I can’t see any good reason for how this went down. The flip side to that are the many, many positives about this story which, from start to finish, is a pedal-to-the-floor spy thriller that plays up everything readers have come to love about Jason Bourne. These books have always had an old-school vibe, structured more for suspense than nonstop action. For other series, that style can get boring in a hurry, but not with Bourne. Van Lustbader knows just how to keep fans on the edges of their seats as he lays out the story’s plot, sucking them in and setting up for a climactic ending that doesn’t disappoint.Between this book and a brand new feature film hitting theaters on July 29th, there’s never been a better time to be a fan of Jason Bourne!

Many, many Jason Bourne books have been spun by Eric Van Lustbader since the passing of the great Robert Ludlum. I have read most, if not all of them, and this is why I feel the book deserves three stars:There comes a point when so many characters are conniving to one-up or seek revenge against enemies both present and past that the story loses its traction. That is the problem with this one. When I put the book down and picked it up the next night, I always forgot who hated who even more. The action is quite good – and graphic, often, and I enjoy Jason Bourne’s gumption and abilities. I appreciate the current-day tie-ins: ISIS has a role in this book, and so does the Russian desire to reclaim the Ukraine, so there is believable geopolitical intrigue involved. Lots going on, keep a sharp and open mind to appreciate this one. I don’t believe you have to have read all the Bourne books in order like some other series.

The Bourne Enigma is the latest book in the Jason Bourne saga. It is the 13th book in the series, which was originally created by master novelist Robert Ludlum. The Bourne Enigma is an exciting story filled with all the elements common in a spy/thriller novel. There is action and adventure in the book, with the main character, Jason Bourne, finding himself constantly in danger and travelling all over the globe. The book has many characters and plot elements, sometimes making things difficult to follow unless you’re an avid spy novel reader. The book seems to require previous knowledge of the previous Jason Bourne books, but as a standalone is a great read. There was a lot of globetrotting within the book, and there seemed to be more characters than were needed. However, fans of the movies as well as the novels will thoroughly enjoy this addition to the spymaster Jason Bourne’s legacy, as he battles not a new enemy, but an old one.In this book, Jason Bourne receives a message from a fellow spymaster, Russian General Boris Karpov. Karpov sends Bourne a cryptograph that only Bourne can decipher. Contained within is information about an impending global disaster and Bourne must investigate to find out what the disaster is and stop it from happening. The information that Karpov has given Bourne leads him to Ivan Borz, an international arms dealer that Bourne has been hunting for a long time. Jason Bourne then finds himself on an epic chase across the Middle East and the Mediterranean to capture Borz before the unknown disaster occurs. Bourne only has four days to find the arms dealer and bring him to justice before an international crises threatens to tear the world apart
